

Vernon was born in Marthasville, MO on June 14, 1932. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from Northeast Missouri State Teachers College in 1953 and enlisted in the US Army that same year. Vernon served two years in the Army before returning to Marthasville. He was united in marriage to LaVerne McVey on June 16, 1957. Vernon worked as an engineer on various aircraft and aerospace projects before starting his own engineering design and drafting consulting firm. He spent the first part of his retirement back in Marthasville on a property known to his family as The Great Hill.
Mr. Dickmann enjoyed bowling, woodworking, television and radio repair, crossword puzzles, and card games. He and LaVerne moved to the Dallas area in 2002, where he was an avid golfer at Heritage Ranch. They moved to Highland Springs in 2015 where he enjoyed art classes. Over the years, he and LaVerne worked tirelessly to develop an extensive family tree dating back several generations and including thousands of individuals.
Vernon is survived by his wife, LaVerne; their daughters, Beth (Bob) Moore, and Amy (Georges) Buatois; grandchildren, Sarah and David Moore, and Emily and Katie Buatois; nieces, Jane Schumann and Nancy (Schumann) Winton; as well as great nieces and nephews and two great-great nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Hedwig Dickmann, and his sister, Ruth Schumann.
Services will be held at Ted Dickey West Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at 2:00pm. Donations can be made to T Boone Pickens Hospice or the charity of your choice.
