Wayne Anthony Rand, 61, of Plano, passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2023. He was born on January 7, 1962, in Conway, Arkansas, to Tony & Mary Ann (Lanni) Rand. Wayne is the oldest of six children and paved the way for his younger siblings – so they knew what they could and could not get away with. He enjoyed playing baseball and tennis and was a 1980 graduate of Little Rock Catholic High School. Wayne went on to attend University of Central Arkansas before entering the workforce. Wayne worked at and owned many businesses over the years, but was most proud of Slattery Rand’s Irish Pub in Las Colinas. In 1989, Wayne got married and started a family, raising two beautiful daughters, Lanni and Leslie – who were his world.
Wayne’s devotion to his family was incredible. He was an amazing father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He was the most committed dad this world has ever seen and was so proud of his daughters, who blessed him with three grandchildren that he adored. While his daughters were school-aged, Wayne coached every team they were on so he could spend time with them and their friends. He loved picking them up from school on his motorcycle, Screamin’ Eagle, and wanted to be sure that all of their friends saw their dad’s hot ride. Wayne was larger than life and didn’t wait for a holiday to celebrate life. He lived life to its fullest, loved having fun, and found joy in the simple things of life. Wayne lived life slow; not in a rush and treasured each moment. He was patient and loving and wanted to make as many memories in this life as possible, especially with his daughters. Wayne was a passionate person and, when he committed to something, he was all in – 1000%. His desire to help others was admirable and had a generous heart, sometimes to a fault. Selfless doesn’t even begin to describe Wayne, as he was the type of person to give you the shirt off of his back and wanted to make sure he did all he could for everyone else.
Wayne was meticulous about everything and his attention to detail was second to none. His holiday decorating was over the top, as he really enjoyed celebrating holidays. He relished the countless trips to Breckenridge with this family to ski each year. Wayne enjoyed boating on Lake Ouachita and had a houseboat for many years. He was an animal lover, appreciated music and had a love for classic rock. Wayne was a devout Catholic who cherished his faith and enjoyed sharing it with others. Wayne’s laugh and big heart has left this world far too soon but will be treasured by his family for generations to come. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
Wayne was preceded in death by his grandparents, Nick & Margaret Lanni, and Danner. He is survived by his daughters, Lanni Rand of McKinney and Leslie Rand of Frisco; grandchildren, Jayden, Emery, and Kyrie; parents, Mary Ann & Tony Rand of Plano; brothers, Jeff (Maria) Rand of New Orleans, LA, Greg (Lisa) Rand of Dallas, Mark Rand of Garland, and Bill Rand of Dallas; sister, Antoinette Rand (Aaron Doss) of McKinney; and nephews, Nic Rand, AJ Rand, Gregory Rand, Marcus Rand, Colson Rand, and Garrett Rand.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 25, 2023 from 1:00-3:00pm at Ted Dickey West Funeral Home, Dallas. A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 26, 2023 at 10:00am in the funeral home with a interment to follow in Ridgeview Memorial Park, Allen.
