

William is survived by his wife of 49 years, Barbara; children, Mark William Humphries and wife Pam, Lisa D’Artra and husband Sean and Robert James Humphries and wife Allison; grandchildren, Lindsey Lansing, Brett Lansing, Somer D’Artra, Darby Humphries and Zoe Edwards; and sister, Marilyn Fish and husband Steve. Mr. Humphries attended Oklahoma State University where he earned both a Bachelors and Masters degree in Biological Science and Education. After college he went on to teach in Shawnee Mission, Kansas for 21 years and then in Richardson, Texas for another 21 years. During his career he also coached football for Elementary, Jr. High and High School age students and held the position of Director for the Living Materials Center for Richardson ISD. He held a deep passion for science and teaching and contributed to 3 of his students being accepted into the International Science Fair. William was also widely published in the field of science education including various scientific journals, modules and curriculum books. He also loved the outdoors and was devoted to his family and friends. William especially loved spending time with his grandchildren as hide and seek was one of his favorite games. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 8, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Ted Dickey West Funeral Home in Dallas, Texas. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association. William was loved dearly and will be deeply missed.
