With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Carolina R. Turrubiates, our loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, tia, and sister. Carolina was born in Raymondville, Texas on December 2, 1939 and passed away on October 3, 2020, where she was surrounded by her family in her home in McFarland, Ca.
She is preceded in death by her mother Dominga O. Rangel, husband, Angel Turrubiates Sr., son Rolando Turrubiates, and brother Antonio Rodriguez. Carolina is survived by son, Angel Jr. and his spouse Maria Turrubiates, two daughters, Sally and Lisa Turrubiates, 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 4 sisters, a brother and many nieces and nephews.
She retired from McFarland Unified School District in 2003 as a secretary after serving 22 years. After retiring, Carolina worked for local voting posts and was a member of Socidad Edad de Oro as well as a lifelong member of St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church. Carolina enjoyed spending time with her family, baking, and cooking for her grandkids. She loved to take care of her roses and enjoyed the company of her dogs Dora, Dori, and Little Boy. She was also a big advocate for going to school and always encouraged her children and grandchildren to go to school and continue their education. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 22nd. The Rosary will begin at 9am and the Mass will begin at 10am, both will be held at St. Elizabeth’s Church in McFarland, Ca. The burial will follow at North Kern Cemetery in Delano, Ca at 11am. Family and friends are invited to a gathering with refreshments at Delano Mortuary in Delano, Ca from 12-2pm.
