She was my biggest fan. And biggest supporter. 
Growing up I could always come to her about anything, and she’d let me cry on her lap while she rubbed my back and listened. Once I was done she’d say “ya no. No eres bonita cuando llores”. 
I quickly realized how I took those years for granted, I became one to make her food in the morning, help her go to the restroom and shower like she used to help me. 
At this point, I knew I would never be ready when the time came. 
I’d tell her about the gym, my new tattoos, and college acceptances. 
She was always so proud even when she didn’t understand what I was saying or who I was. She always said “que bueno mamita, que bueno”.
I thought that because I was incorporating her more and more into my routine that it would somehow ease the pain for later to come. But honestly, nothing could have prepared me for that day.
It was selfish of me to think that because I spent more time with her that meant she couldn’t leave me. Her body and soul were tired, and I could visibly see it whenever I looked at her. I knew there was nothing I could do to take away the pain and fatigue she was feeling. Even till the end she was trying so hard. She was such a fighter. A stubborn one. In her last moments, although she had already lost her ability to speak a week prior, she was still trying to talk. 
A long 93 years of life. Bearing and raising children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Chasing a dream at such a young age with ambitions of creating a family. 
Grandma was a woman of virtue, good morale, and strong will. There is a part of her in every one of us, so although she is gone, her legacy will never be forgotten. Her soul is at rest now.
We may never move on, but we will learn to move forward. The grief doesn’t become easier to bear, but we grow around it. As William Pence once said, “grief is love with nowhere to go”. Her spirit may be gone, but the love we have keeps her alive in our memories and within our hearts.

Romualda lived a life dedicated to her family . Her faith, and love was felt and known by all who knew her.  She was always there for anyone who needed time with her. She lived a long full life of joy, an example for all to aspire. She was loved by all and will be missed till we see her again in heaven.    Robert Marroquin
