Valentina Mariscal Rodriguez died peacefully and surrounded by family at age 92 to be with our Lord on 11/16/2022. Valentina was born in La Ceja, Zacatecas, Mexico on 05/21/1930 to Brijido and Carmen Mariscal. At age 16, Valentina married Geronimo Rodriguez. In 1957, Geronimo brought his wife and 3 children to Delano where they permanently settled and had 6 more children.
Valentina loved God, her husband, children, grandchildren, extended family, and friends. She will be most remembered for her strong character and tough love. She'll also be well remembered for her talents in embroidery, gardening and cooking. Valentina was a hard worker in farm labor and worked
until the age of 69. She taught her children good work ethics and also taught them how to drive although she, herself, didn't drive.
Valentina is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, 1 brother and 2 sisters. Surviving family includes 2 brothers, all of her 9 children and their spouses: Carmen Garza (Moises Basurto), Luis Rodriguez (Mary Ellen Rodriguez), Felicitas Atilano, Raul Rodriguez, Yolanda Lopez (Pedro Lopez), Norma Rodriguez, Miguel Rodriguez, Gloria Rodriguez, Christina Atilano, Also 18 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, and 14 great-great grandchildren.
A visitacion for Valentina will be held Tuesday, December 13, 2022 from 2:30 PM to 6:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Delano, 707 Browning Road, Delano, CA 93215. A mass of Christian Burial will occur Wednesday, December 14, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe, 1015 Clinton St., Delano, CA 93215. A committal service will occur Wednesday, December 14, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at North Kern District Cemetery, 627 Austin St., Delano, CA 93215.
Serving as pallbearers are Ernie Alcaide, Joseph Atilano, Albert Carrasco, Robert Cisneros, Theodore Feliz Jr., Armando Garza Jr., Marshall Miller and Gregorio Rodriguez.
