She was born August 13, 1934 in Sherman, Texas. Ima (Jean) lived most of her life in Denison. She graduated from Denison High School in 1951 and married the love of her life, H. F. (Frank) Brown on May 19, 1955 and they were married for 53 years. A lifelong member of Hyde Park Presbyterian Church, she loved to travel, was a voracious reader, loved history, especially enjoyed living four years in Mount Vernon, Virginia, a suburb of Washington, also Austin and Hampton, Virginia. She also loved her conservative politics a little to the right, was an excellent cook, liked to watch Ranger baseball and Cowboy football, was very competitive and believed practice makes perfect. Better to have tried and failed than never to have tried at all; she had a never give up attitude.
Jean is survived by daughter, Natalie and James Griffin of Ardmore, OK; son Timothy F. and Gayle Brown of Bells, TX; grandchildren Meredith Jean and Jace Marshall of Moore, OK, Jacob Griffin of Madill, OK, Shelby J. Brown of Bells, TX; great-grandchildren Caroline Jean and Griffin Marshall of Moore, OK; sister Mary Jo and Doyle Stalcup of Keller, TX; nieces Diann Stalcup and Hamen Shorter of Burleson, TX, Debbie and Doug Sypert of Hurst, TX, Denise and Paul Christopher of Haslet, TX and Deidra and Craig Morgan of Hurst, TX.
Jean is preceded in death by husband H F. (Frank) Brown, parents Olen F. and Ruby Blackburn.
The family will receive friends on Monday February 4, 2019 from 6-8 pm at Bratcher Funeral Home in Denison, TX. Graveside services will be held at 12 noon on Tuesday February 5, 2019 at Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman, TX.
