

DEQUINCY-Eldon James "Buddy" Perkins, 93, died peacefully at 7:05 p.m. Sunday, September 8, 2013, in a local hospital, surrounded by his family.
Buddy was born in DeQuincy on November 2, 1919 and was a Christian by faith. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing and dominoes. He retired after over 20 years with Livingston Shipyard.
Survivors include his loving wife of 68 and a half years, Melba Perkins; sons, Keithon Perkins and wife Sherry, Derek Perkins and wife Vicki, and Brent Perkins and companion Sue Gustin; daughters, Krista Lowery and husband Sam, and Ronda Jacobs and husband Garland; 13 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren, and his dog Cricket.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Elvin "Pit" and Alma Hall Perkins; daughter Dana Kaye Perkins Red and her husband Charlie, and brother Elwood C. Perkins.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 11, in Hixson-Snider Funeral Home. The Rev. Roy Hoosier and the Rev. Alvin Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Perkins Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 a.m. until time of service Wednesday, all at the funeral home. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com.
