

Iris Faith Williams Wilcox, 83, of Singer, LA. (Oretta Town Sight) passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at her residence. She was born on June 19, 1933 in Fields, LA. to her late parents Alvie and Alice Williams with midwives Aunt Stella and Aunt Madie. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, oil painting, along with working her flower garden. Her proudest accomplishments were being a Housewife and a Camp Fire Den Mother. Early on she was a manager at the F&S dime store, then worked as a warehouse foreman at Phelps Correctional Center where she eventually retired to take care of her husband. She then volunteered as a Pink Lady for DeQuincy Memorial Hospital for 525 hours, then was elected as the President of that group. While she was the President, she raised scholarship funds for Nursing students with her Pink Ladies and Blue Boys. She was baptized at 13 years old in Bearhead Creek beside the bridge with her father at the same time. Iris read her Bible every day and loved the books of Psalms.
She is survived by her two children, Louis Edward Wilcox of Oretta , Lynnette Langlois, and husband Lon of Cypress, TX; along with grandchildren, Jared Langlois and wife Aimee of Cypress, TX. and Jene'e Langlois, of San Jose, CA.
Iris is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edwin Wilcox.
A Memorial service will be held at Hixson Snider Funeral Home of DeQuincy on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at 6:00pm. Visitation will begin on Thursday starting at 5:00pm. Words of comfort may be shared with the family atwww.hixsonfuneralhomes.com.
