

James was born January 29, 1934 in Bivens, LA to Leonard and Iva Franks. He attended Oakdale High School and was a 1952 graduate of DeQuincy High School. He was a lifelong member of DeQuincy Church of Christ. James was a true entrepreneur, happy most with dreams and ideas of new business deals. He was the owner and operator of Starks Water and Gas, Elizabeth Natural Gas, D and H Gas, JPC Energy, Starks Feed and Hardware and Lunita Manufacturing. His greatest bluff was to pick up cans for a living.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Delores Barrow Crabtree Franks; one son, James Ray Franks, Jr. and wife, Theresa of DeQuincy; two daughters, Carol Marie Peloquin and husband, Gregg of DeQuincy and Pamela Gayle Franks of Galveston, TX; seven grandsons, Andy, Matt, Mark and Luke Peloquin, Cory, Wade and Brad Franks; five great-grandchildren, Drew, Adam and Daniel Peloquin, Ryan and Jolie Franks; one brother, Jessie Robert Franks; one sister, Joann Franks Bohannon. He is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Margaret Elizabeth Dahlquist Franks, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Walter (Iva Spears) Franks, a brother, Charles Jennings Franks.
His Homegoing will be 10am Saturday, July 6 in DeQuincy Church of Christ. Visitation for family and friends will be 12noon - 8pm Friday, July 5 and will resume Saturday 8am until service time, at DeQuincy Church of Christ. Burial will be in Perkins Cemetery.
