

Charles Edward Simmons, born August 13, 1929 to John and Ethel (Essex) Simmons, passed away March 29, 2013. Charles was a resident of DeWitt since 1967. He was a devote Christian man who served Christ in various churches and several capacities. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of St. Johns. Charles loved gardening and fishing. He grew and donated vegetables to numerous organizations including Beacon of Hope, City Rescue Mission of Lansing and New Tribes Mission. Mr. Simmons was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters and five brothers. Surviving are his wife, Marjorie of 57 years; son, David (Ruthann) Simmons; and daughter, Linda J. Simmons; and grandchildren, Melody, Timothy, Valerie, Rosie, Jonathan and Bobby. Family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 4,
at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes DeWitt Chapel, 205 E. Washington, DeWitt, Michigan. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 5, at the First Baptist Church of St. Johns, 512 S. US 27, St. Johns, Michigan, with Rev. Tim Knaus and Rev. Gib Hale officiating.
