Ellen Marie (Owen) Leiby, was born to Caroline C. and Hershel M. Owen on July 7, 1937, raised in Mason MI, passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2015. Even though she didn't feel her life was over here on earth, her Heavenly Father needed her, and called her Home.
She was married to Robert L. Leiby on April 3, 1959. They moved to Bath, MI in 1962 where she lived the remainder of her life raising her family with Bob, working at and supporting Lansing Christian School where their children went to school, and then eventually working at and retiring from the Bath Township Hall, being active in the community.
Surviving are her faithful and loving husband Robert L. Leiby of 56 years and her wonderful and caring children Peggy Leiby (Mike Elsasser) of Higgins Lake/South Lyon, MI, Jeffrey Leiby, Orlando, FL and Eric Leiby, (girlfriend Brenda Barton) Bath, MI.
Ellen is also survived by her grandchildren Benjamin Bashore (Dewitt, MI), Amber Leiby and Brittany Malloy (both from Bath, MI), who gave her much joy. The icing on the cake was her great-grandson Caleb, who brought sparkle to her eyes and much love and happiness to her heart. She also has been anxiously awaiting the birth of 'Baby Girl Malloy", due in January 14, 2016.
She is also survived by her sister Fern (Robert) Thorburn of Evart, MI, and her brother Martin Owen of Mason, MI. She has many special nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Ellen was pre-deceased by her parents, two sisters, Betty Hart and Evelyn Babcock and brother, Vincent P. Owen.
Many knew how Ellen loved to bake and share her baked goods with others. Sewing was another passion she had for many, many years. Her greatest passions were her family and her church family.
All of Ellen's family brought her much happiness and she especially enjoyed that happiness when there were huge family gatherings and there were many over the years.
Ellen was a member of Lakeside Chapel of Park Lake, MI and was blessed by her church family. Her greatest joy would be for all family and friends who do not know Jesus as their personal Savior to become a born again believer, as she was.
To all her family and friends, she loves you all and asks that each one of you try to remember, with joy, something special that may have happened between you and her. Her wish is that you don't mourn her passing but know that she is safely at home with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
