

Evelyn Waller of DeWitt passed peacefully under the care of Mid-Michigan Hospice on May 11, 2016, after a long battle with Parkinson's. Her final days were spent surrounded by the family and friends Evelyn had touched in some way. Evelyn was born in Bradford, Arkansas on August 14, 1934, to J.T. and Ruth Wallis, and married Allen Waller on June 13, 1953. Her life was spent serving others. She was an active member of the Holmes Road Church of Christ. She also was a member of the Good Will Circle, DeWitt Boosters, a Girl Scout Leader, Room Mother and volunteer for the South Side Kitchen. Evelyn found joy in sharing the bounty from her gardens, walking with friends, sewing, attending DeWitt sporting events and cooking. She opened her home to family, friends, neighbors, foreign exchange and college students. She also provided extended lodging to those in need. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, sister Arvie Cook, brothers Jackie Wallis and Danny Wallis. Evelyn is survived by her loving husband Allen Waller, daughters Fonda Robinson (Ron), Kerry Orr (Jonathan), Myra Chambers (Greg). Grandchildren Amanda Osterhout (Yuri), Justin Orr (Sheila), Jason Robinson (Andrea) and Wesley Orr. Visitation will be at Gorsline Runciman in DeWitt, 205 E. Washington, DeWitt, MI., from 2:00pm-5:00pm on Sunday, May 15, 2016. Services will be at Holmes Road Church of Christ, 321 E. Holmes Road, Lansing, MI at 11:00am on Monday, May 16, 2016. The family would like to express appreciation for visits and care of friends and the care provided by caregivers at Ingham Regional Assisted Living.
