
James Lee Wiser, of Northport, MI, died Saturday, March 16, 2013, at Akron City Hospital, Akron OH, and is at peace with the Lord for eternity. He was born in Lansing MI. He resided in St. Louis, Lansing, and DeWitt, MI. He retired to Northport in 1983. He was a World War II and Korean War naval veteran and a member of the American Legion and Lions Club in Dewitt, MI. He enjoyed bowling, golf, traveling, wildlife, woodworking, and mechanical repair. He served as the president of the Lake Geneva Property Owners Association in DeWitt and as president of the Cherry Homes Property Owners Association in Northport. James was employed with the State of Michigan Department of Transportation; first as an auto mechanic. He then became the Manager of the Main Street garage and retired as an equipment analyst in 1983 with over 35 years of service.
Jim is survived by his wife of 35 years, Ferona; her son Stephen (Susan) Hodgman of Lansing, MI; and daughter Vickie (Michael) Ayers of Bath, OH. He is also survived by his daughters Cynthia (Michael) Hogle and Jennifer (Al) Harrison of DeWitt, MI, Linda (Timothy) Fredricks of Caledonia, MI; and his son Dennis (Karen) Wiser of London, OH; 10 grandchildren, Zachary and Christopher Wiser, Richard (Crystal) Hogle, Heather (Vlad) Slapak, Christina and Nicholas Fredricks, Melanie and Margaret Hodgman, Hilary and Emily Ayers, and 3 great-grandchildren, Alex and Gwen Slapak, and Vivian Hogle. He is also survived by sisters, Joyce French of Alma, MI and Eloise Miller of Okemos, MI; brothers, Clifford Wiser of Indian River, MI and Richard (Dorothy) Wiser of St. Louis, MI. He was predeceased by his parents, Clifford and Tressel Wiser, sisters Evelyn Simonovic and Mildred Roach, brothers-in-law George Simonovic, Charles French, Stanley Miller, and sister-in-law Mary Wiser.
Friends may call Sunday March 24, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Gorsline-Runciman Funeral Home, 205 E. Washington St, DeWitt MI. The funeral service will be held immediately following at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday March 24.
Military burial will be at Fort Custer National Cemetery, 15501 Dickman Road, Augusta, MI on Monday, March 25 at 10:00 a.m.
