Jay C. Sprague of Lansing, Michigan passed away December 14, 2017 at the age of 92. He was born September 9, 1925 to J.C. and Nellie Sprague in Plymouth, Michigan. Jay was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters Local 1004 for 70 years and worked for Christman Company for 40 years as a foreman/superintendent. Jay absolutely loved to build and left his footprint on this earth by all of the buildings he constructed including but not limited to Powerhouse 65, several dormitories at MSU, Wharton Center, the State Complex behind the State Capitol, Erickson Powerhouse, and Sparrow Hospital. Jay had a brilliant mind and was loved by many, especially his wife, Theresa. He will be remembered as being a little snarky and a smart ass with his humor. Jay was a teasing guy with a great personality who went out on his own terms. He had a treasure trove of knowledge that he was always willing to share. Jay was quick witted, had a rhythm for working, and expected everyone else to be on their toes and ready to work as soon as their feet hit the floor in the morning. Jay was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Gladys, Harley, and Vanoma “Judy”. Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife, Theresa and fur babies, Tilly, Maddie, and Gershwin. Those desiring may make contributions in memory of Jay to New Hope Pet Rescue, P.O. Box 281, Laingsburg, MI 48848. The family is being served by Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes DeWitt Chapel. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.grdewitt.com
