

Jeanette Elaine Seigle, born in Lansing on March 16, 1941 to Leo and Alyce (Underhill) Barnes, passed away December 11, 2012. Mrs. Seigle was raised by her step-mother, Bertha Louise Barnes, graduated from Haslett High School and was the first college graduate in her family. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Central Michigan University and Master’s from Wayne State University. Jeanette was very patriotic and had a heart for helping others. She made a mission trip to Haiti and was an advocate for disabled veterans and numerous other charities. She enjoyed spending time with her family, working with children, reading, quilting and listening to music. Mrs. Seigle was preceded in death by her parents; step-mother; and sister, Jeanne Gibeau. Surviving to cherish her memory are her husband, Richard of 46 years; sons, Chris (Teresa) Seigle, and Chad (Dominica DeLaGarza) Seigle; grandchildren, Christine Renee Seigle, Michael Christopher Seigle, Emiliano DeLaGarza, Julian Lopez, and Gabriel DeLaGarza; sisters, Gretchen Pearl King and Nola (Robert) Scannell. A funeral for Jeanette will be held Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 12 noon at The First Baptist Church of DeWitt, 11068 S. DeWitt Rd, DeWitt, Michigan. Family will receive friends at the church from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, December 14, 2012 and 1 hour prior to the funeral.
