As  principal  of a Christian school in Holt, Michigan, I had  the privilege of having all three of Tom and Joan’s children in my school.  During that time Joan was a great help volunteering for many activities with which her children were involved.  Tom and Joan kept their 3 children in a Christian school for a number of years in spite of the cost.  I consider that a remarkable loving sacrifice - one they felt  worth all the material “things” they had to do without themselves!    I consider them both exemplary parents.  

Dawn and family.  I am so sorry for the loss of your Mum.  Your Mum would always come into McDonald's very friendly, and always would say hello to me.    I will always treasure her smile.   Your Mum would make my day.  She will be greatly missed.

Joan added us to her family after Dawn married our cousin.
She loved to tease.
We spent many Sunday nights as a group at fast food restaurants after evening service.
She and Tom were part of our  Sunday school class.


She loved her family and music. It was a joy to know her and her family. I know she will be missed for her prayers for her family!   She was a loyal friend of Jesus and His family.

I met Joan and Tom many years ago while working for ABCU.  Joan always made it a point to stop and talk with me, catching me up on her family.  Even after moving to Phoenix, AZ, Joan always made it a point to send me a Christmas card with a lovely scripture written inside. To the Peterson family, my deepest condolences.
