JoAn M. Watson

She was born April 30th, 1948, the daughter of Edward and Rita (Wohlfert) Schafer of Muir, MI. JoAn worked as an Operator and Service Assistant at Michigan Bell Telephone Company from 1967-1974. She also worked at Meijer from 1986-2019. JoAn enjoyed spending time with her cherished grandkids. To say her grandkids were her pride and joy is an understatement. Her legacy of her kind and beautiful spirit will live on through her grandkids. She loved keeping in touch with family and friends on her phone. JoAn was committed not only to her immediate family, but also to her sisters and brothers. Her smile was infectious, and she was always sweet and kind to everyone she crossed paths with. She was a member of the Christ United Church in DeWitt. JoAn was a loving mother of two children, and a loved grandmother of four grandchildren.

JoAn is survived by her two children: Barney (Amy) Watson and William Watson; her grandchildren: Lily, Mason, Colin and Oliver Watson; three brothers: Fred Schafer, Louis (Celeste) Schafer and Edwin (Mary) Schafer; and three sisters: Edna Benner, Loretta Temple and Adeline (Ed) Reisbig.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers: Kenneth, Don and Raymond Schafer; and one sister: Susanne Schafer.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at 11:00am with a visitation one hour prior at Christ United Church, 1000 W Webb Rd. DeWitt, MI 48820. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ United Church.
