

Mike proudly and honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy as a Corpsman during the Vietnam Conflict. He retired from General Motors and later started a career as a Quality Auditor. Mike enjoyed playing softball, hunting and had a love of classic cars. He was an avid Detroit Tigers and MSU Basketball fan. Mike was a member of the DeWitt VFW Post 671. He was a graduate of DeWitt High School and remained a loyal fan of the school and the athletic department. In 2014 Mike was inducted into the DeWitt High School Athletic Hall of Fame for playing on the 1961 Football Team which was the first team to be undefeated. Mike’s favorite place to spend his quiet time and find peace was on the balcony at his condo in Myrtle Beach just watching the ocean.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Leonard; children, Teresa Leonard, Greg (Jamy) Leonard and Jeanne Jonas; grandchildren, Chase Knapp, Ian (Amber) Mosher and Madisyn (Jacob Rawza) Jonas; great-grandchildren, Jack Mosher and Brynn Mosher; sister, Shirley Peterson. Mike was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Carrole and Glenda.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, February 25, 2022 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes DeWitt Chapel. Interment will follow at Gunnisonville Cemetery in De Witt. Visitation will be held from 10-11 am prior to the service at the Funeral Home.
