Age 88, passed away on May 11th, 2023. She was born June 15th, 1934 in Westphalia, MI, the daughter of Theodore and Anna (Hufnagel) Droste. She married Lewis Decker on November 15th, 1958. Marlene was a charter member of St. Jude Catholic Church in DeWitt. She retired in 1990 from the Michigan Department of Civil Services where she was employed for 28 years. She enjoyed going to the family cottage at Budd Lake in Harrison, which she and Lewis purchased in 1967; enjoyed card playing, traveling (especially the flight on the Concord to Europe), NASCAR and the many cruises she had taken (especially to The Panama Canal, Russia, and Germany).
She is survived by two sons and one daughter: Bruce (Lori), Larry (Leanne), both of Dewitt and Nancy (Steve) Ross of Nashville, Indiana; Nine grandchildren, Kyle (engaged to Angelica), Kari, Samantha, Cody, Carson (engaged to Alli), Leah (Chris) Steele, Austin (engaged to Kendra), Chad (engaged to Cassidy) and Shelby (engaged to Charles). Her great grandchildren Merrick and Sonja Steele, and one brother-in-law, Leon Feldpausch, and many nieces and nephews. Preceding Marlene in death, her ever-loving husband, Lewis, two brothers, Louis and William, two sisters, Theresa Feldpausch and Josephine, and in-laws Ed and Joyce Decker, Rosella and Jesse Davenport, and Jack and Donna Decker.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on at 11:00 am Wednesday May 17, 2023 at Catholic Community of St. Jude, 801 North Bridge Street, Dewitt, Michigan 48820, with visitation from 10:00 am until the time of Mass.
The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, where Marlene will be entombed head-to-head with her husband, Lewis.
Fr. David Speicher, of Catholic Community of St. Jude, will officiate the service. The family is being served by Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes Dewitt Chapel.
