When I was born the doctors told my mom and dad I would not live much past the age of 12, I guess I fooled them! My mom and dad took loving care of me until my mom’s death in May 2002. Then dad and I were living the bachelors’ life. Dad took care of me single-handedly until 2008 when I decided it was time for me to live on my own, kind of. I moved to Village Manor in Onondaga, Michigan. They took excellent care of me. I enjoyed all the staff and my fellow residents. We were quite a happy gang. I enjoyed going out to eat with my dad and sister, Carol. After finishing my schooling, I worked in a sheltered workshop in Dearborn, assembling auto parts. When I moved with my parents to DeWitt to be closer to my sister and her family, I worked at Transitions North. When I moved to Village Manor, I began attending the Senior Program at Transitions South in Holt, Michigan. However, I eventually decided to retire and hang out all day at home, where I liked to help with vacuuming and laundry. What would I do in my spare time? That was easy. I would turn up my radio as loud as I could to my favorite country station and sing the songs while doing a puzzle or a word search. My favorite time was sitting with family eating my favorite home-cooked meals. I was blessed that I could eat as much as I wanted and never gained any weight. I also liked to watch and play sports. My favorite sport was bowling. I would often go with my special friends from the workshop. I never bowled a perfect game, but my friends and I had a perfect time together. My favorite team to watch were the Detroit Tigers. I enjoyed watching and listening alongside my mother. I loved my family and all my friends. Whenever I saw a new person I would proudly introduce myself and say, “Hello, my name is Ralph. What is yours?” Whenever you meet a special person in life like me, say hello and give them a hug. It will make you feel better. Surviving to cherish my memory are my father, Charles L. Tront; my sister, Carol ( Wesley) Priem; brother, Gary Tront; nephew, Christopher Priem; and my godparents, Irene and Stanley Jablonski. A funeral mass will be celebrated for me at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, June 3rd, at the Catholic Community of St. Jude, 801 N. Bridge Street in DeWitt, with Fr. Dwight Ezop presiding. Interment will follow at DeWitt Cemetery. My family will receive friends at church two hours prior to mass. Those desiring may make contributions to New Passages Village Manor, 4750 Church Street, Onondaga, MI 49264, in memory of Ralph Tront. "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God." Matthew 5:8
