

Richard C. Boyd of Williamston, born April 16, 1950 in Rochester, New York to Carl and Elsie Boyd, passed away at home on March 29, 2016. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Candy (Ballard) and daughter, Laura. Also survived by in-laws, Lloyd (Margie) Ballard, Bill (Cheryl) Ballard, Sharon Hunt, Dee (Gary) Janz as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Rick, alias The Boydster, was a true car nut whose interests included muscle cars, hot rods and of course Corvettes. He was a carburetor and fuel injection expert who was always willing to share his expertise with others. His love of cars started in his youth when he raced go-karts with his father, Carl, who was his mechanic/crew chief. He was a fan of all forms of automobile racing and followed all of them closely. He was a mechanical engineer with Rochester Products/Delphi for 40 years. He worked at the GM Proving Grounds, Oldsmobile Motor Division and the Delphi Technical Center in Brighton. His career was truly an extension of his hobby. The family will receive friends at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, DeWitt on Sunday, April 3 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Catholic Community of St. Jude, DeWitt on Monday, April 4 at 11 a.m. with visitation one-hour prior. Interment will follow immediately at the DeWitt Cemetery. Donations can be made to the University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center’s Sarcoma Research Fund.
