Robert “Papa” was born in Battle Creek, Michigan on March 12, 1944 to Francis Gorsline Klan and Henry William Klan. He passed away on July 13, 2022. Robert married Maxine on June 6, 1966 in Alexandria, Virginia.
He received his bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University. He was an Air Force Sergeant prior to joining Farm Bureau Insurance Group and a Computer Programmer/Systems Analyst.
He was a member of Northpointe Community Church.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents and step-mother, Ila Larkin Klan.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Maxine Kirk Wolcott Klan; children, Robert (Nicole) Klan, Christina Klan, David (Tazuko) Klan, Michelle (Donald) Dahl, and Nathan (Tara) Klan; siblings, Nancy Mason, Peter Klan, and Barbara Widick; and grandchildren, Trisha, Jonathan, Jaden, Ryan, Hayleigh, Poet, Pace, Shepherd, Leah, Caleb, and Molly.
He faithfully served and prayed for his family and church. He loved nature and enjoyed good food and cooking for his loved ones.
