Ronald L. Scott, born October 13, 1923 in Climax, Michigan, peacefully passed away September 5, 2013. Ron was born to Loereta (Giffels) Scott and Ray Merle Scott, the first of nine boys. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Elbridge, Roy, Robert, Arthur, Eugene and Harry; and great-granddaughter, Chloe Devereaux. He will be greatly missed by his brothers, Oiver Wayne “Ike,” of Niles and Charles (Mary), of DeWitt.
Dad experienced a great deal in his lifetime, living almost 90 years. He hauled milk when we were kids. He worked heavy equipment on the original Hwy 96 to Grand Rapids. He was a farmer, logger and ran his own sawmill. Every job he did was in the outdoors, to which he attributed his longevity. He was a genuine, loving and kind-hearted man. He was our dad and our rock. We will miss him so much.
Ron has two children, Russell Allen (Beckie) Scott, of DeWitt and Alexa Kay (Mark) Wild, also of DeWitt; two grandchildren, Tracy Jo (Gabe) Devereaux, of Grand Ledge and Garrett Russell Scott of Maui, Hawaii. He has five beautiful great-grandchildren, Macey, Brody, Max, Piper and Willow.
A memorial service and dinner will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 14, 2013, at the DeWitt VFW, 12250 Old US 27, in DeWitt. Ron has lived in the DeWitt and Laingsburg communities most of his life and is known by many, so please come celebrate his life with us and share your friendship with our dad.
