Ruth Joan Peterson

Ruth met the love of her life at a young age and enjoyed 58 years of marriage to her Marine Corpsman, Donald Peterson. Ruth enjoyed a vibrant life filled with family and passions including gardening, baking, and playing games with family and friends. She lived in several places throughout her life, including DeWitt, MI; Waters, MI; and Iwakuni, Japan. She was an avid sports fan, particularly of Michigan State University athletics, as well as the Detroit Tigers and Lions.

Ruth is survived by her son, Doug (Kathy) Peterson; her grandchildren, Justin (Tara) Peterson, Matthew (Katrina) Peterson, Alyssa (Adam Sharp) Peterson, and Emily (Greg) Felton; her sisters, Margie (Dennis) Thelen and Janis DeGeer and her husband, Edward; her brother-in-law, Richard Morrill and sisters-in-law Judy Drinan and Margie Peterson; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Don; her son, Gary; her daughter, Laura Kay; her grandson, Ryan Peterson; her sister, Roberta Morrill and several brothers and sisters in law.

A visitation will be held on Friday, October 17, 2025 from 10am until the time of service at 11am at Gorsline Runciman Dewitt Chapel. Following the services, Ruth will be laid to rest at Dewitt Cemetery, next to her beloved husband.
