Ruth Joan Vanderwier, of DeWitt, Michigan passed away on Sunday, December 6, 2020 at the age of 87. She was born Dec 17, 1932 the daughter of Otto and Laura Kresky. She was raised in Lansing, and moved to DeWitt with her husband, Gordon Vanderwier. They later had a son, Gordon Vanderwier, Jr.
Ruth worked as a secretary for the state of Michigan before retiring. She enjoyed golfing with friends and traveling with her husband during their retirement, visiting as far as Australia and New Zealand. Ruth also greatly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends at the lake during the summer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon, and is survived by her son, Gordy; her granddaughter, Maggie; her niece and nephews; her extended family; and her best friend of 75 years, Lu Mayhew. She will always be remembered and loved by her friends and family and will be dearly missed.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 14, 2020 from 6:00-8:00 PM with a Rosary prayed at 7:00 PM at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, DeWitt, Michigan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:30 PM on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at the Catholic Community of St. Jude 801 N. Bridge Street, DeWitt, Michigan with Rev. Fr. David Speicher as Celebrant. There will be visiting from 11:30 AM-12:30 PM at the church. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Lansing, Michigan.
