Tylor was born on Dec. 11, 1992 in Torrance CA to Patrick and Yvette (Magness) Higgins and passed away suddenly on Nov. 28, 2011 of cardiac arrest doing what he loved. He was a 2011 graduate of DeWitt High School and currently a student at Lansing Community College. For the past 4 years Tylor was a member of both the high school band and swim team and was currently the Assistant Coach of the swim team as well as, a lifeguard and instructor with DAST (DeWitt Area Swim Team). Tylor will always be remembered for his contagious smile and witty sense of humor. He was hard working and dedicated to his teams and organizations in which he participated. Tylor remained true to his California roots, visiting family and lending a helping hand on his Grandfather’s avocado ranch. He also enjoyed visiting relatives in Jackson, perhaps even stopping for a Coney dog on the ride home. Tylor had a playful way about him, often “mixing it up” with friends and family. He could banter with the best of them. More than anything, Tylor held a special place in his heart for his parents and three younger sisters. Tylor was a protector of his sisters and could frequently be seen walking them to and from the bus stop. He was the son that every parent would want to take home. Tylor was truly a gentle soul who cared deeply for everyone he touched; his family, friends, teammates, coaches and fellow students. Tylor will continue to live in all of our hearts, and thru the donation of his eyes to the Michigan Eye Bank. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Russell and Jane Higgins and Great Grandpa, Joseph Milkowski. Tylor is survived by his parents Patrick and Yvette; sisters Shannon, Kenna and Kasie; grandparents Dwight and Eva Magness; great grandmother Irene Milkowski; aunts and uncles Jessica Manzano, P.J. and Mary McDonald, Russ and Patti Higgins, Dan and Julie Bissot, Steve and Kathy Syrjamaki and numerous cousins in both California and Michigan. A Funeral Mass will be held on Sat. Dec 3, 2011 at 11:00am at the Catholic Community of St Jude, 801 N. Bridge St., DeWitt, MI. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the Mass and on Friday Dec 2, from 2-4 and 6-9pm at the church. The family is being served by the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, DeWitt Chapel.
