Darrell Joseph Marquette

Darrell Joseph Marquette, 55, a native of Plattenville and resident of Donaldsonville, passed away on September 26, 2017. Darrell was a loving husband, father, son, and friend to many. He was a retired coach and teacher at Donaldsonville High School and Pastor at Word of Life Church in Donaldsonville. He enjoyed cooking his famous jambalaya and sausage poboys and serving them at the high school home football games. He was also a butcher and raised 4-H pigs for showing. He had a love for tractors but most of all loved serving the elderly and others. He is survived by his loving wife, Tracy Delatte Marquette; three daughters, Mary Marquette Schexnaydre (Shea Schexnaydre), Jeanné Marquette, and Madison Marquette; his mother, Geraldine Templet Marquette; three sisters, Cindy Marquette, Melissa Marquette Watson, and Stacey Marquette Humphrey (David Humphrey); one brother, Dwight Marquette; his mother-in-law, Mary Jane Delatte; brother-in-law, David Delatte (Marlene); sister-in-law, Gina Delatte-Richard (Jon Richard); nieces and nephews, Richard Humphrey, Jessi Delatte Lasseter, Jordan and Jessie McCrary, Landon and Brooke Delatte, Taylor Richard, and Kaylie and Gage Lasseter. He is preceded in death by his father, Louis Marquette; father-in-law, Lloyd Delatte, Sr.; brothers-in-law, Richard Edward Watson and Lloyd Delatte, Jr. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Vince Cataldo and staff, along with family and friends for their care and support.

Visitation will be on Sunday, October 1, 2017, from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Ourso Funeral Home in Donaldsonville. Visitation will continue at Word of Life Church at 1701 Maginnis Street in Donaldsonville at 9:00 am with services immediately following at 11:00 am. Entombment to follow at the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Plattenville, La. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make donations in Darrell’s name to Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital.
