Jacqueline Pierce, resident of Prairieville, passed away on Monday, April 24, 2017 surrounded by her family and friends. She was 86 and a native and longtime resident of Winnfield. She was an amazing mom who raised four children, working many jobs. After her retirement, she taught piano to many children and adults and was the pianist and organist at her beloved Calvin First Baptist Church. She loved to crochet especially afghans and baby blankets. Up until recently she provided many baby caps and blankets for the NICU at Woman’s Hospital. Jacqueline also served as the Local Union Secretary at Manville.
She is survived by her daughters, Jennifer Pierce Boal and Stacy Pierce Joffrion (Steve); sister, Janice McQuillin Duhon; 14 grandchildren, Marc Pierce (Jodie), Wayne Durbin (Aaron), Cassy Graham (Ryan), Brandon Williams, Lori Williams (Josh), Shawn Pierce (Angelica), Bryan Pickering, Kelly Boal, Garrett Joffrion (Anna), Stephanie Joffrion, Bonnie Peltier (Johnny), Steve Joffrion, Jr. (Randee), Jeremy Joffrion, and Missy Guillot (Tim); 23 great grandchildren; 9 great great grandchildren; and 4 nieces, Rebecca Garrett, Judge Desire’ Duhon, Angelique Duhon Freel, and Tiffany Smith. Preceded in death by 2 children, Bruce Pierce and Etta Lynn Pierce Williams; parents, Dewey Garrett and Nena Machen; and a brother, Machen Garrett. Visitation will be on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Calvin First Baptist Church, Calvin, LA from 8:30 am until funeral service at noon. Burial to follow in Bethlehem Cemetery.Pallbearers will be her grandson’s. Special thanks to Bonnie Peltier, Angelica Pierce and the wonderful staff at Amedysis Hospice.
