

Thomas “Lil Tommy” Christopher Nickell, Jr., 30, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 22, 2017. He died peacefully at his home in Thibodaux, LA with his parents and sister by his side. He attended Nicholls State University and was a graduate of Fletcher Technical Community College. He was a committed Respiratory Therapist and a devoted friend with a kind and caring heart. He was known for his fun, outgoing personality and selflessness.Tommy leaves behind many friends and family members. He is survived by his parents, Thomas, Sr. and Christine Fernandez Nickell; sister, Elizabeth Claire Nickell; grandmothers, Winnie Blanchard Fernandez and Earline Rodrigue Dupre’; God-Child, Hollyn Reece Truxillo; dog, Henry Paul; aunt and God-Mother, Darlene Landry (Johhny); aunts, Rebecca Capone (Zach), Celeste Mabile (Brent) and Paula Mohler (Mike); uncles, Carl Fernandez (Tammy), Brian Fernandez (Wanda), Jerome Fernandez (Steve), and Chad Fernandez (Tim); and a host of cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, R.H. “Babe” Dupre’ and Fred Fernandez, uncle LJ Rodrigue and parin Steven Rodrigue. Visiting will be at St. Jules Catholic Church, Belle Rose on Monday, March, 27, 2017 from 8:30 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am, Rev. Matthew Graham, celebrant. Interment to follow in the Brusly St. Martin Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Landon Mohler, Jordan Landry, Joseph Mabile, Robert “Tex” Smith, Reid Amedee and Bobby Rock. The ACHS Class of 2004 and his fraternity brothers of Sigma Alpha Epsilon, where “Lil Tommy” was a proud member, will serve as honorary pallbearers. His family would like to thank Erin Legendre of Family Medical and his dear friends and co-workers of Thibodaux Regional Hospital, and Ashley, Christine, Paul, Angie, and Kena of Hospice of South Louisiana. We want to extend a very special thanks to his dearest and most cherished friend, Morgan Savoie Gravois. She was always by his side and helped him however she could.
