Adele was born in Philadelphia in 1943 to Rose and Pete Naddeo. They moved to New Jersey for a short time, and then moved to California when Adele was 12 years old. She attended school in La Mirada and then Huntington Park High School where she graduated in 1961. She met Walt Schilling, the love of her life, on a blind date. They married in 1962, and started their family.
Adele worked as a bank teller at Bank of America, but soon stopped working to raise her family. She enjoyed doing many activities with her children. She became a member of the women's guild at St. Matthias Church, where her children attended elementary school. She was very active with the guild, performing in plays and hosting fundraisers. She implemented the first hot lunch program for the students at the school, which was a huge success.
The family moved to Downey in 1977 when they purchased the beautiful family home where they continued to raise their family, and made wonderful, lifetime friends with neighbors. Adele then began working at the Huntington Park Courthouse as a Deputy Clerk where she served the public for ten years. She then went to work part time as a library assistant at the Norwalk Library. She enjoyed this work very much. She also joined the women's choir at St. Raymond's Church, which gave her great pride and a spiritual fulfillment that made her very happy.
In 2002, Adele officially retired. She helped raise and babysit some of her grandchildren, which she thoroughly enjoyed doing. She also enjoyed gardening and tending her beautiful yard with many plants and flowers. She could make any plant grow and flourish. She took great pride in her lush, flower-filled yard. She joined the Italian Catholic Federation at St. Raymond's Church where she had great fellowship with other members of the church. She particularly enjoyed playing Bingo once a month.
After Walt passed, Adele very bravely underwent spinal reconstructive surgery due to severe scoliosis. This entailed a long recovery, which she bounced back from very nicely. She continued doing activities with her family, along with gardening and activities and Bingo with the ICF.
In 2024, Adele underwent knee replacement surgery which enabled her to be more mobile in her later years. She continued to spend time with her grandchildren and go out to work in her yard as much as she could.
Adele is survived by three of her four children; Lisa Schilling-Luna, Rob Schilling, and Donna Schilling-Laughlin. She was predeceased by her youngest daughter, Tina Schilling-Berkley in 2021. Her seven grandchildren include Anthony and Amanda Laughlin, Gabriella Schilling, Jessica and Matthew Berkley, and Christina and Vanessa Luna.
