I was so sorry to hear that your mom had passed.  She lived a long and wonderful life and I’m sure she is still in good hands and meeting up with all of her good friends and family.
I will always remember your mom as a very giving and kind person and if you needed to know anything about anyone in Downey you could just ask Bertha. She donated and gave of herself to every organization in Downey and beyond. She gave to our family, but also my grandmother, aunts, kids, etc.  You couldn’t ask for a better neighbor.
When I was young and older Your mom and dad would take us to the racetrack and we got to eat in the Turf club. Boy did I think that was cool. I also remember the day your mom took us to Hermosa Beach so we could all go bodysurfing and I remember thinking, you will get real burned sitting out on that sand. Your mom had the most beautiful white skin. Well she got burned I do remember that and I’m sure she probably would have rather been sitting at one of those nice lady luncheons she always seemed to have tickets for. 
I’ve been going through old family photos and I have hundreds with your mom and dad. Yes, they were included in every family event we ever had. 
I’m sorry I won’t be able to attend her funeral but will visit her grave on my next trip to California.  
You are in my thoughts and the world won’t be the same without our dear Bertha.
