Crescenta Randolph Pierce, 95, passed away peacefully in her home on June 19, 2025. Crescenta was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend whose feisty spirit and red hair made an impression on everyone who knew her. She was born on April 30, 1930, in Frederick, Oklahoma, to the late Homer and Lucy (Hasley) Randolph. She spent her early years in southwest Oklahoma where she became known as, “Chris”. Homer and Lucy then moved the family to New Mexico and continued on, to Long Beach, California, in 1938 in pursuit of a better life. Chris finished her time at home by graduating from David Starr Jordan High School in Long Beach, California in 1948.
Following graduation Chris was working at a tailor shop at Los Alamitos, Naval Base where a handsome young sailor came in and called her “Red”. This began the love story of Jack and Chris which finally, officially, began with their matrimony on May 9, 1950 in Reno, Nevada. Jack and Chris began their life together in Long Beach where they remained their entire lives. They enjoyed the births of their five children Tina, Tony, Debbee, Denise and Dana. So many years of laughter and love filled their home. Years of church involvement, camping, Mapleine pancake syrup, peanut butter and jelly grilled sandwiches, dart gun wars, family singing and Christmas sweet treat boxes.
If you knew Chris you knew that she was a woman of faith. She grew up in the church of Christ from the time of her birth. Chris remained faithful throughout her life putting God’s ways above typical cultural norms. She lived out her faith even when it wasn’t easy. Chris showed herself to be a good and faithful servant in life and God blessed her with many beautiful days with her family and friends. She immensely enjoyed music and especially acapella singing. In the 1960s she spent time teaching the youth group how to sing in parts at the North Long Beach Church of Christ. Another one of her talents was her ability to sew. She sewed countless outfits for her kids and grandkids over the years. Chris was a hard worker who spent time working outside the home as well as in the home. She worked at companies such as Servomation and Office Depot until she retired at 76 years old.
Chris is preceded in death by her parents Homer and Lucy (Hasley) Randolph, her husband Jack Pierce, her sister Theda Bara Peters, her brother Phillip Randolph and daughter Denise Guay. She is survived by sister Carleta Mulkey, brother Franchot and Betty Randolph, daughter Tina and Roy Hombs, son Tony and Margie Pierce, daughter Debbee Nahabedian, son Dana Pierce, 13 grandkids: Tiffany (Hombs) Wiederstein, Brandon Hombs, Damon Hombs, Tony Pierce Jr., Natasha (Pierce) Sharpe, Alisha (Pierce) Burgess, Daniel Nahabedian, Jacqueline (Nahabedian) Armstrong, Wade Ramirez, Michael (Peterson) Hillard, Rachel (Pierce) Hunt, Jackson Pierce, James Pierce and 25 great grandchildren with 1 on the way.
Though Chris may no longer be with us, her memory will continue to inspire, comfort, and guide us, just as she always did in life. We will miss her dearly, but we take solace in knowing we will one day be reunited with her in heaven. What a day, that will be!
