Remembering  and offering prayers for our dear Harry today.

My condolences to the McCabe family! It was a pleasure to have known Mr. McCabe we worked together at Los Padrinos with the youth, in word of our Lord. I know for a fact that our friend Harry is with our savior.  Blessings to all! 


What a lasting memory with Grandpa this was! It’s hard to believe this photo was taken only 4 days before his passing.  I don’t want to write something sad, but instead of the joy that was shared On this day. If you were there, you would completely agree.  Through all the somber last days, weeks, and months I’m sure he had, this day was smiles, laughter, and beautiful memories for the books. There was a dark room, then there was light. There was silence, then there were....kids! And you know what? I feel like that’s exactly what he needed. Some JOY. My daughter unfortunately won’t ever remember her great grandfather, but because of this day, she will forever know who he was, and know that she was one of the last people that he happily moved his arms to tickle her with, played with, smiled for, and of course, looked at her in that special way only certain people can. Because of this joy, Him and I got to share an unforgettable last conversation, tight embrace (yes, he wrapped his arms around me,) and very special promises. I’m holding you to those Grandpa! There were a lot of lasts, and with that, yes, tears. But you know what? All I could think about afterwards was peace. What peace this day brought. How peaceful his spirit then became. He would never be the same after this day as he began his journey to heaven, but he and all of these memories will ALL be forever lasting. 
May your soul be resting in peace , and now be rejoicing with the angels. Because grandpa, you Did good.

I can’t find the words of what my heart feels like to lose my beloved father-in-law at almost 100 years old, except to realize I am never really going to lose him. He’s in my heart, my mind, my thoughts and most importantly he’s in my blessings. He’s my example of how life should be lived for  his passion for his beliefs and his unending devotion to God and with all that, his constant humor and kindness and care for others portrayed all with the greatest of simplicity and humility. Dad, my precious father-in-law , thank you for being my example in life and strengthening my faith with your steadfast convictions which I always admired. You never failed to call me beautiful, you never failed to love me and you never failed to hold my hand even until the end.  You always held on tight and I promise you I will in turn never let you go in my heart.  I love you dad.... I told you to follow the angels and I know they have led you home. 🙏🌟✨❤️💖💕💞✨🌟


My dad, my hero. I am so sad. I already miss you so much. My heart is shattered.  I learned a litany of morals and ideals from you: God first, men always walk street side, men will hold a door for a woman,  a man will let you go first,  a man should stand when a woman enters, give up you seat for another,  and so many more.  You so badly wanted us to read ‘Don Quixote’ which caused a few tears and now my love for the song, “To Dream the Impossible Dream”.  That song will certainly always make me cry.  I loved your dry silly sense of humor.  You showed me how to step up and take care of whatever was in front of you.  You were my early morning buddy, waking me and getting me out the door when I was in Nursing School.  Although unspoken, I felt your loving support and encouragement.   I know you and mom will be my guardian angels. I will continue to put God first and lean on his love and guidance.  God has all the power.  His will be done. Until we meet again papa,  and your last words to me as I rubbed your cheek “ sweet Susie”.  I will cry and be sad but smile because you always reminded me to “keep smiling “.   Auf Wiedersehen!

Grandpa,
I have so many fond memories of you at every single family gathering, at all my big life events, and now I cherish memories I have of you and my own children. I'm so thankful Ronan and Rory got to play with their great grandpa over Christmas and enjoy his antics (stealing their cookies and playing toll booth with his cane). I'll always remember you singing the words to 'Call Me Maybe' at my wedding when you were 92 years old! You lived a beautiful, full life serving God and others. You were an incredibly giving and selfless man, may we all learn to be half as selfless as you were. You created a large beautiful family with countless grandchildren and great grand children. Your memory and legacy lives on in all of us. And though we miss you terribly, we know you at peace finally reunited with Grandma. May your love and light live on in all of us.

Mr. McCabe was such a nice man. I did not know him well, but he reminded me a lot of my dad.  I have a great deal of respect for WWII veterans. That generation of individuals not only fought for & protected our freedom, they also taught us a strong work-ethic and love for family. I saw that in him and know that he taught those qualities to his children. 

His daughter, Sharon, and I have often traveled together. Mr. McCabe would sometimes drive us to the airport. He seemed so interested in our travels, asking questions on the ride, and you could tell he was thrilled that his daughter was traveling the world.  Mr. McCabe was always cheerful, friendly and very sweet during those short conversations. 

I know he was dedicated to his church, which is admirable as well.  We need more people of faith, especially in today's world.

He is a good man who is already  missed. The world is a better place because of him. Rest in peace, Mr. McCabe.

You will never know how you touched our family.  From our summer vacations to Utah and Tahoe to raising my kids.  The impact you had on our lives will never be forgotten. I cried when you passed away, I still cry today, although I loved you dearly, I couldn’t make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hardworking hands at rest. God broke my heart to prove to me, he only takes the best. -unknown

A hero, a saint, a man who touched the hearts of everyone he met. I am at peace knowing you are with grandma and not in pain. I’m so grateful for all the happy memories and will hold those close. I love you!

To the man that I always looked up to and was my hero. This is not good bye. Its see ya later. 

My fun memory of Dad was watching Dodger games with him on Friday nights.   He renewed my love of the Dodgers!  I would bring him El Taco, of course, and we would eat the chips first then have part of his quesadilla or his enchilada while we watched the game!  Desert always followed with a cookie and some ice cream. If he had it his way the desert would always come first!  Man I am gonna miss him!! He was always kind and pleasant and funny!  He always saw the best in people and never judged. What lessons we can all learn from him.  His life was a beautiful song that revealed who God is. Loving, merciful, forgiving, caring, generous and so much more. The best way I believe to honor him is to have a relationship with God. That really was his desire. If you believe that Dad was a wise man then I think you can trust that his God can also be yours. All you have to do is ask him into your heart. I’ll end this the way Dad always greeted me...”peace sister”. Peace out daddy-o!  I love you and miss you!

Not just my grandpa, but my hero and my families care taker. He woke my siblings n I up everyday for school and piled all our friends into his sweet space shuttle of a van. Far too many kids packed in that thing but he never said no to helping someone out.  He would make us dinner every night and always made us eat our veggies. He always had a lasting impression on any friend that came by, with his silly remarks. He was so gentle and kind and would always let you know how he felt through his post it notes. They were everywhere. His love for goodies was unmatched. The last time we hung out he asked me if I had cookies in my pocket. What a great laugh we had. It was such a pleasure growing up in the same house as him.  His faith was like nothing I’ve ever seen before. I will always be forever grateful that I had the pleasure to have such a great role model in my life. I love you forever grandpa. “Peace sista”

I have very fond memories of visiting the McCabe household when Sharon and I were in college. One or more girls would be in the middle of a facial mask and I would be greeted with smiles and laughter from Harry and Jean. I looked forward to his Christmas letters each year. Harry was always busy doing things for the church or getting in a round of golf. He was a great example to his children and grandchildren. And driving in his 90s. What an inspiration! When I think of Harry I can’t help but smile.  

I don’t ever remember being told the rules at grandpa’s house, I just always knew what they were. I always knew we had to get all the chores on the post it notes done before we could play. 

I stand in admiration and pride to be related to someone who could be so true to his values and soul through 10 decades and many generations of craziness. He’s a constant reminder of what we are capable of and to truly be a great person.  Miss you grandpa. 

My sincere sympathy to Harry's family. I  will always remember working with Harry at Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall in Downey.  He was a dedicated and conscientious helper in the chaplain's office, always friendly, and upbeat. I enjoyed his good sense of humor.
May his soul rest in God's loving embrace.

Uncle Harry  was steady, strong yet sensitive, funny and witty, unassuming and rational. He lived faith, hope and charity and embodied what was good and right in my world.  He sacrificed to provide a safer world for us. He lived love  and gave his love to his family and the world.

 We  lost a gentle, noble, champion of a man  and another of the “Greatest Generation”.

I’m privileged  to have known him, loved and been loved  by him.  The memories of my youth are filled by him and all my McCabe  and Frank McCabe cousins.

He wasn’t only a grandpa to me, he was my hero. I’ll never forget the first time he asked Kevin, Kerri and I if we wanted to go to Burger King after our trip to the 99 cent store. I’m pretty sure we thought it was a joke. But sure enough he took us to Burger King. We thought it was the greatest day of our life. His sense of humor will be missed. He always asked if you had snacks or cookies in your purse. I love you Grandpa. May you smile everyday of your life as you’re by grandma side again. 

I’ll never forget the time I asked the tooth fairy (which he was), for more than a dollar for my tooth. The “tooth fairy” gave me $1.01. His sneaky sense of humor will always make me laugh and smile. Truly the greatest man I’ve ever known. Love you always Gramps. 

Dad McCabe, or just "Dad" always welcomed you as one of his own children even if you were not, was one of the most extraordinary man of faith that anyone could ever know. Growing up in the active McCabe house was one of many adventures from someone who didn't actually live with the 9 of them. Eating a meal at the kitchen "picnic" table was always a fun time. It was like having a picnic no matter where you sat and Mom McCabe would make sure there was always something for.  You were always welcome no matter what time of day, and to be a part of the McCabe shuffle in the morning getting ready for school would make your head spin how they all made it out at the same time dressed and ready to go.
In the later years going to visit Dad, seeing him recognize you come thru the door with his smilin' eyes and his knowing grin, you could leave all your worries behind. What a kind,  mild heart he had, and a faith so strong that would strengthen any doubting soul.
Dad, thank you for your faith, strength,  and undying love for your family which included me everyday! I love and will miss you much! Laurie :)

When I was young and he used to pick up from school, without fail, he would give me a Little Mermaid cup full of milk.  He got the biggest kick out of it. This went on for years! I didn’t mind because I got to spend time with Grandpa.  I’ll never forget those one-on-ones (very rare in our family) where you taught me which directions “left” and “right “ were when I was struggling with it in school and who won the baseball games the previous night.   Miss you already Grandpa. 

Mr. McCabe will be greatly missed but his warmth kindness, and gentle spirit will be remembered forever. I give my condolences to the entire family. God rest his soul.
