Big Mike is what the neighborhood kids called him. His home was always open and he was always willing to give some good advice. He provided a father figure to many kids that didn't have one. He also wasn't afraid of calling someone out when they needed a reality check. A good man and he will be missed. Memories of his time on Briercrest will live on.

So young still. We had a lot of good times when they lived on Briercrest st across from us. My prayers go to The family.

I looked up to Mike for a number of reason: his strength, his compassion, his wisdom. Mike used to take me out with him to teach me how to surf, and in doing so, taught me that if there was something I didn't know how to do, then I need to go out and learn how. He always knew what to say, gave me advice on dealing with stressful situations and how to react when faced with negativity. He was my friend and I'm going to miss him so very much.

What can I say about Mike? A treasured friend for the last 10-11 years. A real man, with a whole lot of love to offer. Smart, honest, talented, wow. Every question I asked him ... from assembling a 12 gauge pump to a big rig diesel exhaust filter ... he was right, every time. I love this man. So sad now, crying. May he rest with God. ... Jim
