Raymond Alfred De Boer, age 86, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2023, after an extended hospital stay, surrounded by family and friends. He was born on January 12, 1937, to Jerry and Sadie (Attema) De Boer. He married Lula Marie Mobley on May 26, 1974, and they were blessed with 49 years of marriage in which they lovingly supported each other throughout the years. Ray’s children include Stacey De Boer, Ray De Boer, and Mark De Boer (deceased). Ray was closely involved in the lives of Lula’s children Nancy and Bogie, their granddaughter Sarah, grandson in-law Chris Keller, and great-grandchildren Daniel and Kaylee.
Ray was talented in being able to repair and build almost anything. He learned at a young age from his own father the skill of repairing things and working hard and used those talents in his own home and with people in his life. He was a family man who lovingly cared for and protected those close to him.
Ray was a hard-working employee of Western Plastering for over 25 years. He was valued and appreciated for his work ethic. He believed in giving a hard day’s work for his employer and then “giving them a little extra!” This was instrumental in making him an extremely valued employee. Ray retired at the age of 56. During his retirement he was fortunate to enjoy his hard work and he became a world-traveler making memories of a lifetime exploring nearly every corner of the world with his wife and best friend Lula.
Ray is preceded in death by his son Mark, parents, sisters Alyda Sonke and Nelvina Vander Dussen, brothers Jack De Boer and Floyd De Boer, and brothers-in-law Dan Sonke, Cor Vander Dussen Marten Bangma, and Ken Barnes. He is survived by his children Stacey and Ray, Lula’s daughter Nancy Lystra, granddaughter Sarah (Chris) Keller, great-grandchildren Daniel and Kaylee, his sisters Geraldine (Chib) Bangma and Lorraine Barnes and brother Jerry (Joyce) De Boer, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Thank you for showing your love and support by being here today. Please celebrate, amidst the tears, that Ray is now in the presence of his Lord and Savior.
