Obituary of Aghdas Javid
It is with deep sadness that the family of Aghdas Javid announce her passing on September 28, 2018. Predeceased by her husband Dr. Mirza Javid in 1999. Loving mother of Sussan, Ladan and Jasmine Javid; grandmother to Badi, Natasha, Nassim, Anissa and Skye, and great grandmother to Atli. She was an active and ardent member of the Baha’i Faith who shared its teachings of unity and love for humanity with a genuine warmth and infectious smile. For more than 50 years she opened her door to all as she hosted weekly “Fireside” talks and discussions in her Dundas home, as well as annual February and July community tea and garden parties. Recognized by the City of Hamilton (Mundialization Committee) with the 1990 World Citizenship Award, Aghdas was always engaged with community life. She was a member of the Dundas Mundialization Committee, the United Nations Association in Canada, Hamilton Branch, the Hamilton Interfaith Group, Body and Soul at St. James Church, Dundas, and contributed to the creation of the Children’s International Learning Centre. The family appreciates the constant offering of love, support and prayers from so many friends, as well as the care of the many physicians, nurses and other medical and support staff during Aghdas’ lengthy hospitalization at St. Joseph’s Hospital and briefly at St. Joseph’s Villa. A funeral to mark her life of service and to pray for the progress of her soul will be held at the Marlatt Funeral Home, Swackhamer Chapel, 195 King Street West, Dundas at 10:30am on Tuesday, October 2nd. Interment to follow at Mount Zion Cemetery, Copetown. Online condolences may be made at
