Peacefully passed away at WRHN-Chicopee, Kitchener on Thursday July 16, 2026 at the age of 92.
Beloved husband of Kathe for 67 years. Loving father of Fred (Debby), Mike (Darlene), Jim (Helen). Loving Grandpa to Nick (Sarah), Matt (Brittany), Gregory (Robyn) and Jenny. And Great Grandpa to Mads Reuter. He will also be sadly missed by Heather and Rob Hanek. Predeceased by his parents, Fritz and Ida, brothers, Lothar, Werner, and brother-in-law, Nicholas. Survived by his sisters, Gretal and Helga (Fritz and Monica) and nieces and nephews in Germany.
Arno was gifted with many talents. Particularly his woodworking, gardening and various construction jobs. Using his experience and skills as a brick layer, he designed and custom built several of their personal homes and always appreciated the help of his other 70 year old friends. He was a devoted father to his sons, and often helped them with home improvement projects. He loved to make personal wooden gifts for his four grandchildren, as his curiousity always drove him to challenge himself with the puzzles of life and also, adventures.
He and Kathe travelled to Australia, and various European countries after his many years of working at Stelco.
Arno and Kathe were faithful members of Trinity Lutheran Church, in Hamilton. They also cherished a lifelong, fun friendship with Kurt Braun and Hedy.
The family would like to thank the staff at Queens Square Chartwell (Rosalyn) and WRHN hospitals, for their attentive and compassionate care for our father.
A special shout out to the kind, helpful people on Sleepy Hollow Crt, Dundas, where Arno and Kathe lived for 30 yrs.
Cremation has taken place as per Arno's wishes. Interment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
