Bruce was predeceased by his parents Bill & Lucy Binnie and by his older brother, Bill and sister, Joan. He is survived by his brother Don (and Lidia) of Kingston and his sister, Carolyn Binnie Grady (and Art) of Southampton, Ontario, and his sister in law, Joan of Waterdown. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and their children. Bruce's nephew, Ian, over many years, has been a special friend and great support. Bruce grew up in Hamilton, very much enjoyed family camping summers in Port Elgin and was always making friends wherever he went. By the early 90s, he was very fortunate to be able to move to Beth Tikvah, a new group home in Westdale for developmentally disabled older adults. This became a secure and much loved home for him. Bruce was definitely a part of his community, involved in a myriad of activities, riding his bike, having coffee, meeting everyone in Westdale. He was always the friendliest person in the room and introduced himself to all he met. And he had a great love and loyalty for his family, including many pets over the years. There will be a private burial at the Hamilton Cemetery and a gathering at Marlatt Funeral Home, 195 King Street West, Dundas on Sunday, April 7th from 2-4pm to share our memories. Special thanks to the staff at the Juravinsky for all their kindness and excellent care for Bruce and his family. Another big thanks to great nephew Warren Binnie for all his heartfelt and lively visits with Bruce over the past several weeks. And a huge Thanks to Beth Tikvah staff for such wonderful support and care for Bruce over the past 30 years. Bruce's life was enriched enormously and he enjoyed a busy and happy life there. No flowers, please, but a donation to the Beth Tikvah Foundation www.bethtikvahhamilton.org or to the SPCA in Bruce's memory would be a welcome tribute.
