Eileen was a valued member of our yoga group at the North Hamilton Health Centre.  Her energy, determination and mindfulness has been an example to us all.  She had a wry sense of humour and was thoughtfully kind and generous.
 
Admirably intrepid in getting out there and doing things like driving around in her old clunker up to the cottage, she was no slouch in setting up and taking down equipment for yoga, either!
 
Eileen's presence will be truly missed at our future yoga classes.

Eileen was also known as Aunt Eileen for me and my siblings - Cheryl, Pam and Bob. Our families were especially close during the late 50's and 60's at Beckley Beach.  Our cottages were side-by-side and there was a well worn path between our cottages. We spent many summer nights  playing card games together, sitting around campfires on the beach ... and swatting mosquitos.  
 
As recently as last summer, Eileen seemed to have endless energy  tending her garden, moving rocks, burning brush, even venturing into the lake.

Our mom Mary and Eileen shared a love of Beckley Beach that continues in our families today.

Eileen was a constant for me at Beckley Beach for almost 60 years.  Beckley Beach has lost some of its character with the passing of Eileen.

It is really sad to hear that Eileen has passed away. It is a great loss to all of us who have met her. She had a warm heart and great personality. 
We will miss her visits and letters to friends in Finland. We were very impressed that she wrote the letters in Swedish and remembered everybody. We are so glad that she was a part of our life. Our warmest condolences from the Laxell- families in Finland.

My husband Bill and I enjoyed playing Wii bowling with Eileen.  We had lots of fun.  Eileen was such a sweet lady.  We'll miss her.

Aunt Eileen and Uncle Bill were also a big part of my youth.  Lots of laughing took place... and  planting!  She was an endless source of plant clippings for our sandy garden at the Lake.   No comment on the buckets of beach rocks I carried for them in my youth.     

A uniquelly driven individual it seemed that (Aunt) Eileen would go on forever.  She will be missed and Beckely Beach wont be the same this year.

My sister Audrey and I have fond memories of many fun times with Eileen as we were growing up on Rifle Range Road.  She also helped us by keeping an eye on our late mother Eleonore before she went to a nursing home, and afterwards visiting her in the home.  We will always be grateful for the many good deeds of this charming, unique lady.  May she continue her adventures in the hereafter.

No words can express how I feel with the passing of Auntie Eileen.  She was my second mother and a very very large part of my childhood is now gone. I treasure incredible memories like dancing to the beatles and beachboys as a child in the living room, going to the cottage every weekend where I learned to fish, swim and drive, winter weekends in the orange camper van learning to ski. I will miss our lunch dates and the fashion magazines she brought me. She was the strongest woman I know and has protected me and taught me the true meaning of life, I will treasure her always. Rest in peace my sweet angel.

Aunty Eileen will truly be missed.She was a happy and very caring person loved by all who really knew her.She worked hard all her life doing everything on her own well into her 80's.We looked forward to her Christmas visits with her giant red stocking full of hilarious gifts for everyone,how she managed to haul it from Hamilton to Bowmanville amazed us all!!May she rest in peace after losing her courageous battle at Hamilton General Hospital.
