I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of my friend and former colleague, Everton Pollard. Everton, or Polly as he was more fondly known, and I became acquainted when he was appointed as Deputy Chief Planning Officer of the Ministry of Education, which I headed at that time. . Polly almost immediately became a major asset to the Planning Unit and, more particularly, the Statistical Section for which he had direct responsibility. He was a meticulous, conscientious worker who took great pride in his work. Although a relatively quiet person, he made good friends within the Planning Unit. These friendships continued after his departure from the Unit, first to the Bureau of Statistics and eventually to Canada. Every time he came home, he found the time to visit the Office and socialise with us. Anyone who knew Polly also knew of his love, dedication, and commitment to his family, especially to his daughters Cylena and Rosalind. He was a loving and dedicated father. My sincere condolences to his daughters and to all who knew and loved him. May his soul Rest in Eternal Peace.

Everton Pollard was well known to the Yansens' and Wills' family. He was a former friend and school mate of the late John Wills. In December 2018 he was home for the holidays on an extended vacation. On the morning of February 6, 2019, the late John Wills called to invited him to his new home in Providence, EBD., on February 17, 2019, which Everton gladly accepted. On the night of the same day Everton was informed that his friend passed away suddenly. He was lost for words. After he got the grave news he tried to get to Diamond Hospital to see him before the body was taken away but that was not possible. He said he was honoured to prepare and read the eulogy which he did eloquently. Two years and nine months later they are pals again. I guess they are having their old talk because that was part of the conversation when he made that phone call hours before he died. Life is so short you never know when the Lord says it is time. My sincere condolences go out to his family, especially Paula, his daughters, Ceylena and Roslin. May his soul rest in peace.
