To Sheila and Raja and your dear families,
My heart goes out to you at this time of your great loss. As I write " your dear families", I think back to how I will remember your special mother. 
She was all about family. She cherished you above all else. Your childhood home always had wonderful home-baked treats. Gertrud was a lovely, welcoming hostess. It was only a couple of weeks ago that I saw her at Fortinos , her cart full of things,  which she was probably preparing for you.
I shall miss bumping into her and catching up on our lives, most of all family.

This is a picture of my dear beloved Mom and my dear beloved Auntie Gertrude♥️ with my sweet “sister” Sheila .. many years ago spending Christmas together. Our family friendship spanned over 5 decades starting back in the 70’s and became a family. When Sheila was born, my parents became their Godparents. Although Auntie Gertrude didn’t officially become my Godmother, she certainly showed me as much love and kindness as any Godmother would. I will always be grateful Auntie Gertrude for how you were there for me as a small child, then in University and finally most recently when I needed you the most when I lost my dear Mom this year. I hope you are together, you and my Mom, laughing and smiling together like the old days. Thank you for all of your love and kindness especially on our last call together. Your last words to me were “call me anytime Sweetie after talking to me and being so kind and caring for over an hour on the day I said bye to my Mom. And I know you meant it. I love you Auntie Gertrude and will miss you always. Sunil and family xo

What an incredible woman Gertraud was🙏🏻 I am forever grateful that I had the time with her that I did. I loved and adored her and wish I had more time to make more memories with her💛 She was a special lady and so generous and kind. Not to mention the best chef I’ve ever encountered - she did it all! A couple favourite memories come to mind: 

- she needed help fixing her voicemail system this past October so I helped her set up a new message…each time we would go to record her voice message she would end the message with saying “okay now I’ll press the pound key” which ended up being a part of the recording🤣 we had to re-do it 5 times until she finally got it and didn’t say anything when she was done (I had to put my hand over her mouth the last time to stop her from saying anything until we hit the pound key) lol we laughed and she was so happy when she finally did it right 
- I know she didn’t like being called Gerty but she let me get away with it and would just give a cheeky smile when I called her that 

Her memory will live on! She is resting now with Papa🙏🏻👼❤️ hugs to all her family and friends. Sending lots of love and strength during this tough time.

Dear Sheila and Stevan and bereaved families

We are also sad and shocked that your lovely mother Gertraud unexpectedly said goodbye but returned home to her Creator with trust in God.
As she told me on the phone, she wanted to come to Austria and to us to Switzerland as soon as possible.
Our thoughts are with you and wish you all the necessary warmth and security that your very helpful mother Gertraud always gave everyone as a gift and as a heart-experience.

I so loved my time with Gertraud. We had many outings together going to plays in Niagara on the Lake and Toronto, and visited the McMichael Gallery in Kleinberg, as we both loved celebrating the arts. At the beginning of this month, she had asked me to join her for a lunch she had planned for Alex's birthday. I had alternate plans that I had already changed once. So I didn't go to Dundas. I will regret this last chance to be with her forever. 😢 Thank you for the many great years of friendship Gertraud. Our hearts are broken.💔

Ben and Gertraud.♥️ Last Christmas. Ben also loved his Gertraud. She had a way of making him feel welcome and loved, every time she saw him. She also provided Ben with supplies for his new home, and she was very excited that Ben had moved close to Raja, Priya and Rohan, excited to see his new condo soon.😢

Gertraud generously donated furniture and kitchenware to Kristen and Matt for their new home. Kristen said tonight that they will cherish them forever. They enjoyed a lovely dinner a few weeks ago with the family at Gertraud's. This summer, Gertraud visited them in their new home, and she was quite pleased that her kitchenware was being used. We have lovely pictures from that day. ♥️ That day will always be special to us. It was full of laughs and love.

Dinners were always fun with Gertraud. Here, she is rightfully showing Mike the proper way to do something. He always wanted to save her dish washing capacity. So he would eat his dessert on the dinner plate. This would always get a reaction from her, and the two of them would "bicker" back and forth. It turned out to be a funny tradition. 🥹
