

Passed away in the presence of family at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton following a brief illness. She took great pleasure celebrating her 100th birthday this past March. She is survived by her loving daughter Isabel (Roger) Janke of Waterloo, grandchildren Patrick and James Groves, Kitchener, Kevin Janke (Peggy), Toronto, Jillian Janke-Wittig (Chad), Kitchener and 3 great grandchildren, Charlie and Lilly Wittig, Kitchener and Beecher Janke, Toronto. Predeceased by her late husband Alfred (Pat) 2019, daughter Janet (2003) and sister Nan Lamb, Dundee Scotland.
Grace was born in Welland, ON and at age 12 re-located to Scotland where she resided with her family until she served with the RCAF during WW II and then returned to Canada. She and Pat and children lived in many parts of Canada during his service with the Canadian Forces, ultimately living in Dundas (West Flamborough) ON for the past 55 years.
She was a loyal member of Christ Church, Flamborough. In 2013 she was awarded the Order of Niagara by the Anglican Diocese of Niagara. Grace was a member of The Order of the Eastern Star and a volunteer with Dundas Community Services retiring at age 93 after 43 years service. Grace was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 36, in Dundas, ON.
The family would like to express our sincere appreciation to all the Hamilton area healthcare professionals who attended Grace with caring and compassion over the past months. Your kindness will long be remembered.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Grace’s life will be held at Christ Church Flamborough, 92 Hwy 8, Dundas ON L9H 4V6 on Wednesday, November 19 at 11 AM. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Christ Church or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
