Born on June 28, 1944, Linda lived exactly as she wanted - with curiosity, intelligence and courage, blended with a dash of mischief!
As a dedicated teacher and librarian, she spent her career encouraging others to discover the joy found between the pages of a good book. Linda firmly believed everything could be improved by reading, learning and a spirited discussion.
Her passion extended far beyond the library. Linda adored art, opera and theatre. She never passed up the opportunity to travel somewhere new. Whether exploring another country or simply reminiscing about one she'd already visited.
Linda collected memories the way some people collect souvenirs and was always ready with a story. She loved many places, yet her favourite was wherever there was family. Time spent around the table, sharing meals, laughter, and stories, was time well spent. Linda’s spirit could light up a room. Many wondered how one person could have so many unbelievable, yet true stories.
Linda was the beloved wife of the late David Helson, loving daughter of the late Jack and Eileen (nee Mills) Webber and sister of the late John Webber (Vickie). She leaves behind her loving niece, Cheryl Saunders, and nephew, Jeff Webber.
She was a proud great-auntie to Cody (Alyssa), Nathan, Terynn and Cole, and a delighted great-great-aunt to little Aurora ("Rory") who inherited a little spark of her adventurous spirit.
She taught us that courage isn't the absence of fear - it's booking the trip anyway, trying something new, laughing at yourself when things don't go according to plan and always finding another reason to celebrate life.
She faced adversity with remarkable resilience and showed us all how to live boldly, love deeply, and never miss an opportunity for one more story.
Our family will carry her legacy and spirit of adventure forward by embracing life as enthusiastically as she did. We will miss her wisdom, quick wit and infectious laugh, and the way she made every gathering brighter, including family reunions with the cousins.
Let's not remember Linda quietly. Raise a glass with full delight and appreciation - she would enjoy that.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Dundas Museum and Archives, 139 Park Street West, Dundas, on Wednesday, August 5th at 1pm. We invite all who knew and loved her to join us in sharing stories, laughter, and memories of a remarkable woman who taught us that life is meant to be lived fully - and preferably with a good book, a passport, and people you love nearby.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph's Hospital, Palliative Care Suite, or the Dundas Valley School of Art for children's programs.
Until we meet again, Linda thank you for the stories, the laughter and the love.
