Rev. Petar Markuci

Petar’s memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of Maria, his devoted wife of 53 years, and his adoring children, Elizabeta (Mike), Emanuel (Nicole), Estera, and Eunice (Ryan). Petar also leaves behind three grandchildren, Mila, Aria and Evelyn, who were the light of his life.

He is survived by his steadfast and caring brothers, Nick Markuc and Vasile Uzoni, and their spouses Daniela Markuc and Georgina Uzoni. Uncle Petar will also be deeply missed by his many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, who will always remember his inexhaustible supply of fun.

Petar Markuci was born on November 13, 1948. At a young age, he felt a strong and irrefutable call to the ministry, and he committed himself in service to the Lord for the remainder of his life.

Petar shepherded many people to the word of God, and served as the dedicated pastor of the First Romanian Baptist Church in Hamilton, Ontario for over 50 years.

Petar’s heart was most full when he was preaching, counseling, and helping others navigate hardships. His unwavering faith gave him the strength to face and overcome many health challenges throughout his life. Petar practiced what he preached and lived his values of humility, honesty, and integrity.

For more than 40 years, Petar lived in Dundas, Ontario, in a home he built for his beloved family, where he enjoyed tending to his garden, yard work, and joyfully playing with his granddaughters.

He has now been called to his eternal home. His legacy lives on through those he touched through his ministry and his love.

“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; As I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” (John 13:34-35)

Visitation will be held at Marlatt Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, located at 195 King Street West, Dundas, ON, L9H 1V5, Canada, on November 6, 2025, from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm. The service will be held at 7:30 pm.

The funeral service will take place at the same venue on November 7, 2025, at 11:00 am.

Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery, 700 Spring Gardens Rd, Burlington, ON, L7T 1J3, Canada, on November 7, 2025.
