He was my teacher in the 1950s.  He was a very professional & enthusiastic teacher.  Unlike most teachers, I cannot recall him giving anyone the strap.  A very likeable person.

I had Mr Rayner for Science in the 1980's.  I also had the pleasure of watching his 1971 Grand Prix whenever he opened his garage door.  He kept it immaculate. He had 2 really great turtles in the classroom if I remember correctly.  I can still hear the school chanting BEAKER! BEAKER! the day he left, or should I say the day he was transferred out of Central Public and headed to TapleyTown.  It truly shows what kind of man he was when I, and so many others, can recall memories from 30, 40, 50 years ago as though they were yesterday.  He made learning fun and that made the information stick. Great Guy and one of the best teachers to have taught!

I had the pleasure of being in Mr. Rayner's class for Gr. 4 & 6 at Greensville Public School back in the early/mid 60's.  He was absolutely wonderful and had the patience of Jobe; he will be missed

I will remember Ron from my Senior Choir days at St. Paul's.  His voice was beautiful.  When ever I hear "We Three Kings of Orient Are" I hear his voice in my head singing "Myrrh is mine, it's bitter perfume...." . Nobody could sing it better!  Heaven has definitely gained a wonderful addition to its choir of angels!

Mr. Rayner was such a wonderful teacher and person. He will be sadly missed by many.

Mr Rayner was a truly great teacher, and people of his calibre are far and few. I remember a sincerely gentle man who would go to the moon to fire that spark for Science in a student.  I made my first "creme brulle" in his classroom with sugar and a bunson burner.  Wonderful memories of a wonderful man.

The only time I enjoyed science was when I was in his class. He was a gentle , caring teacher, with a funky sense of style. May your spirit fly free, Mr. Rayner. Thank you.

Mr Rayner was truly a gentleman who was an inspiration to his students.  He is one of the teachers I remember very well from Central Public school because he demonstrated a genuine interest in what the student had to say.  He encouraged and motivated students to explore science, ask questions and make observations which translated beyond science into shaping a mindset in students that anything is possible.  His passing is a sad loss, but I have no doubt many of his students will reflect on their time in his class -- what greater gift could he have left us than to remember him, his teachings and reflection on knowing what we know today in part because of him.

I'll always remember the iguana he had in a huge aquarium. He told me he got it when it was 6" long, and didn't expect it to grow 6 ft? it was huge.

I will always remember his neat snakeskin platform shoes he wore and his rockstar like hair he had.  In addition, he ran the mural club which I had the pleasure of being in back in grade 7.  All the fish aquariums and the big iguana he had in the class ...  you won't see that in schools today.

Mr Rayner taught me that science - like all things, really - was simply the art of enquiry.  Ask questions, he said: "ask questions, over and over."  Mr Rayner reminded us that the best scientists were the ones that asked the best questions....plus he had a wicked car.  A '71 Riv Fastback.  Deep Blue.

I sang with Ron at St. Paul`s for a number of years. He was the perfect gentleman in every way. He Loved his Church and the Choir. We will miss him. His character was best exemplified in the care of his Mother.

A great loss to our community. Mr. Rayner was one of my favorite teachers at Central Public School. Will be fondly remembered.

To those of us of a certain age, he will always be known as Mr. Rayner. He was a very dedicated teacher, an incredibly devoted son and a truly wonderful spirit.

Mr Rayner was my Science teacher in Grades 7 and 8 (1972,1973) at Central Public School in Dundas. He epitomized what it was to truly teach; he inspired, motivated, excited, and demonstrated often by example what was most interesting about how the world and how its wonders worked. He was funny and caring and had style like nobody else.Until recently, he and my Mum would wave each day as they took their daily walks or stopped for coffee at the Charcoal Burger on King St. He influenced generations of Dundas kids, chaparoned many a class trip, made you feel you could be anything you wanted if you were willing to focus and work for it.A gentleman has passed.Good Night Mr. Raynor and Thank you.

Mr. Rayner was the best teacher I ever had.  He was my Grade 8 Science and History teacher at Central Public School in the early 80s.  I fondly remember his lovely demeanour, incredible patience and inspirational teaching style.  In later years, I would always seem him walking around town and would stop to say hello and catch up with him.  I also had the immense pleasure of serving him and his dear Mother their daily lunch at The Thirsty Cactus.  He touched everyone's heart and will be sadly missed.  RIP dear dear Mr. Rayner.

 A great guy he was by far the Best Teacher I ever had. I'll miss him on his walks around Town. RIP Mr. Rayner you were the Best.
