July 4, 1942 - November 14, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Stephen Freeman Palmer on November 14th at St Joseph’s Hospital. After days surrounded by his loving family, Steve, a gentleman with a twinkle in his eye who brought joy to so many, took his last breath.
He will be dearly missed by his devoted wife of 52 years, Catherine, his children Jennifer (Randy), Jeffrey, Lisa and Stephen Jr (Lindsay), and grandchildren Cassadi, Joshua, Miranda, Jordan, Jackson, Olivia, Louise, Andres and Emile. Steve was the middle child of Stephen F. Palmer Sr. from Toronto, and Isobel Sealey from Dundas. He was a treasured brother to Peter (Rose Marie) and Lynn (David), and uncle to his extended family. He will be sorely missed by many dear friends.
Steve was a loving husband, an avid sportsman, talented gardener, designer and woodcarver. He was an outdoor enthusiast, and adventurous traveler. He loved his Lynden retreat called "Meadowcroft", with trails and ponds, where he spent 45 years with his wife and family. He was the fearless leader of the North Wales Irregulars which traveled to pheasant shoots in Wales 14 times over 30 years. He was a past President of the Tamahaac Club, where he was a dedicated member of the Hit & Miss Shooters. Steve spent his early life in the Dundas area; a landmark stone house on South St was built by his grandfather and a large white century home on Overfield was built by his grandmother.
Thank you to everyone who brought happiness into his life.
A private family interment will be held at York Cemetery in Hamilton. Visitation will be held at Marlatt Funeral Home, 195 King St W, Dundas on Friday November 28th from 5:00-7:00pm.
A Celebration of Life will be held for friends and family at The Tamahaac Club, 180 Filman Rd, Ancaster on Sunday November 30th from 2:00-4:30 pm.
For those who wish, a donation can be made to St Joseph’s Hospital, Hamilton.
