Vera Bennett

June 17, 1946-August 3, 2025

It is with unbelievable sorrow and love that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Omi (Vera Bennett), who died peacefully in her sleep. She was 79 years old. Born in Niedergrund, Germany, Vera came to Canada and settled in Hamilton/Dundas when she was 13 years old.

She is survived by her daughter, Sabina (Joe), and grandchildren, Brady, Andia and Monica. She is also survived by her brother, Willie Forster (and Sam), and her first husband, Albert Fritz.

Vera’s primary joy and world revolved around Sabina and her family, spending every minute she could with them and always helping in countless ways. Vera married Grant Bennett in 1990, who succumbed to cancer in 2002. This loss remained her life long sorrow, and it brings comfort to believe that they are together again forever.

Vera loved gardening, cooking, and travelling, and volunteered for over 30 years with Good Shepherd Services. She sang in her church choir for 30 years, and loved spending time with everyone around her. Omi, Margo, Muttilein…words can not begin to express the hole you’ve left behind. I’ve lost my best friend and right arm.

Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Diabetic Society or Good Shepherd, would be appreciated.
