Throughout his life Bob was a dedicated community advocate. Prior to relocating to Dundas, Bob was heavily involved with Civitan; Finding that Dundas could benefit from Civitan, Bob worked with others in the community to bring Dundas a Civitan Chapter. Later in his life he became a Mason, reaching the 32nd Degree of the Scottish Rite.
Bob leaves behind his beloved wife and best friend Evelyn (nee Ballantyne), his children, Christine Somerville, and Steven Somerville (Britt). His adored grandchildren, Holly and Paige Wilson, and Justin, Adele, and Bronwen somerville.
Bob will be heading home to Lanark county in the spring for a private celebration of life with the Somerville clan. Interment will take place at Greenwood cemetery, Middleville, Ontario.
