Bernard “Bernie” H. Meyers, Jr., 61, of East Hartford, beloved husband for 26 years of Angela (Antolini) Meyers, passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at St. Francis Hospital. Born in Hartford on June 2, 1958, he was the son of the late Bernard H. Meyers and Mary S. (Johnson) Meyers. Bernie was a branch manager for R.E. Michel Company for 23 years and also served the town of Glastonbury for 10 years as a Community Service Officer. He was a member of The New England Association of Chiefs of Police, The Interstate Police Officers Association, Inc., The Connecticut Citizens Defense League, The Benevolent and Protective order of the Elks Lodge 2202 in Glastonbury and was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. In his spare time, Bernie held a FCC license in communication and was fluent in Morse code, but above all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at their summer home at Amston Lake in Lebanon, CT. A loving husband, father and grandfather, Bernie will be forever missed by his devoted wife Angela; three daughters, Jamie Koprek and husband Scott of Ellington, Dawn Moore and husband James of Andover and Stacy Adames and husband Manny of Hampden, MA and his six adored grandchildren who brought him so much joy, Joseph and Eva Koprek, Tyler, Ashley and Amanda Moore and Alexis Adames. He is also survived by four sisters, Monica Gaffney and her significant other Bob, Bonnie Libby and husband Gary, Marybeth Leith and husband Tom and Marci Breault and husband Kevin, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, co-workers, friends and his dog Harley.
The funeral will be Saturday (October 12) at 10 a.m. at the D’Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford with the Reverend Fredd Ward officiating. Entombment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
